UN secretary-general pays tribute to World Solidarity Fund
June 19, 2008-- United Nations secretary- general Ban Ki-moon paid tribute to President Zine el Abidine Ben Ali for his initiative which led to the creation of a World Solidarity Fund and for his call urging the international community to contribute to this Fund's financing.
June 3rd, 2008-- In an address delivered on his behalf by Prime Minister, Mr Mohamed Ghannouchi in Rome On June 3, 2008, on the occasion of the FAO high- level Conference on World Food Security, President Ben Ali renewed his call to the international community to contribute to the financing of the World Solidarity Fund established by the United Nations upon Tunisia's proposal, as a mechanism to curb poverty and need.
May 17th, 2008 --The United Nations Secretary General, Mr Ban Ki –Moon, voiced his support to President Ben Ali's call, inviting the international community to promote its contribution to world solidarity, by taking off one dollar per oil barrel, to allocate it to the World Solidarity Fund.
